SO!
Last August my oldest son got married and he and his new wife were on their honeymoon road trip through the Rockies when their truck broke down in Cheyenne on the way home and it needed a new transmission and then they needed someone to go get the truck and drive it the rest of the way home to Oklahoma because he had to deploy and they were out of vacation days.
And that someone was me.
Lucky for me, that meant a stop over in Denver to see old friends. One was my lovely friend Angie Dornier. She was free to go on a photo walk in Denver, her new home and my old home. There were new things for both of us to see.
Always open.
Colorful Parking
We took a walk through the RiNo District of Denver. Back when I lived in Colorado, this historic area had fallen on hard times and we didn’t go there because it just wasn’t the safest place to be. I was so excited to see what it is now all these many years later: a home for artists and creatives of all types. We walked a few streets and were amazed by the street art. Angie told me it was all to be painted over and started fresh the next weekend. It was a little bittersweet knowing it would all be gone, but exciting to think of what would come after it.
Thomas “Detour” Evans at work.
We watched this gentleman at work for a while. He is Thomas “Detour” Evans and his work is amazing. You can find him on IG: @Detour303 where he does an art tip every Tuesday. He was very kind to let us shoot around him.
Taco Truck!
This was painted on ridges down the whole side of the building. You had to be lined up just right to see the image.
Godzilla here was part of a whole wall of this type of art.
Thanks to Angie for a delightful day. It’s always a good time with you. Please continue around our circle! Coming next is the always brilliant work of Janice of Shine Photo Design!
See you all in May!

First of all, lucky you, getting to spend time with Angie. Second, I love this set. Such delightfully colorful art, so well captured by you.

WOW!!! Love, love, love. The creativity of others always blows me away and man, these are some highly creative people. Hard to even pick a favourite! But I have to say, with my love of doors, that “always open” door is something else. Genius!
Thanks for these. What a treat! and sooo well done!

Bummer for your son and daughter-in-law to have the truck break down but you definitely made lemonade out of lemons. How fun! So great that you got to spend time with Angie. And what a cool area to explore.
